Brands and Services We Love
It can be hard to navigate through all the options to find high-quality eco-friendly options for your little ones. If you can't find what you're looking for here secondhand, then check out one of these brands or services.
We don't receive commissions for your purchases and we only list brands and services we really love, that we know are responsible and sustainable, and that we would use ourselves.
And don't forget - once you're done loving your goods, bring them back to us to Trade Up!
Clothes
-
Merino Wool
Responsibly made from the softest merino wool, we love Dutch brand Lille Barn's brand's styles, colors and quality, which is why we carry them new. We also love Danish company Dilling for their merino-silk blends and Austrian brand Popolini for onesies and booties.
-
Cottons
Geneva-based brand l'Asticot is all about bright prints and organic cotton. Their clothes are durable and stylish and can be passed on again and again. We also love Barcelona's Tiralahilacha for their chill prints on organic cotton and ecolo-cool Swiss kids brand Where Is Marlo?.
-
Bamboo or Wood Fibre
The sustainability of plant-based fabrics is a tricky issue but ECOVERO and TENCEL fabrics are far less intensive to produce than regular rayon, viscose or modal. These silky fabrics are a great choice for sensitive skin because of their breathability. Mini Rodini, Bobo Choses and Mar Mar Copenhagen have some great options for day clothes, but we're still looking for the perfect zip-up pajamas from a European brand...
Underwear and Outerwear
-
Underwear:
(Because some things you just don't want to buy secondhand.)
Dilling makes great organic merino-silk socks and underwear and we're really loving new Swiss brand Well-Rounded's organic cotton undie options.
-
Outerwear
Finding outerwear that is made without harmful toxins isn't easy, but Swiss brand Naumk is one of our favorite options. Patagonia is, of course, a long-time eco-friendly brand, along with Norwegian brand Helly Hansen.
Shoes
-
Benjie
Benji is a super cool Swiss brand. They're B Corp Certified, and make ergonomically happy shoes that are as cute as they are comfy.
-
Petit Nord
Classic leather shoes designed in Denmark, responsibly made in Portugal. And boy are they adorable.
-
Wildling
Taking a barefoot approach, Wildling is all about sustainability but their designs don't suffer for it. Great toddler options for feeling the ground beneath your feet, no matter the weather.
Mamas
-
You&Milk
We love these stylish and comfy breastfeeding clothes from this (very) Frenchy brand. Beautiful sweats and sweaters, nursing bras and undies that are easy to wear, but never frumpy.
-
Tajine Banane
The last word in cool mom clothes, their styles are super fresh and ultra comfy. They even have a second-hand in-house shop!
-
Boob
Fun to say and even more fun to wear, this brand is a no-brainer. We love how simple, well-made and easy their styles are.
-
Mamalila
I have two words for you: baby-wearing overalls. (Okay, maybe four words, whatever). BABYWEARING OVERALLS. For the bump, for the baby. Also amazing jackets that fit over a baby carrier! They even have stuff for men!
-
Isabella Olivier
Classic styles, well made basics, eco-responsible materials. We only wish their maternity clothes rental service was available in Switzerland!
-
Belly Band
This isn't a brand. It's a tip. Grab one of these stretchy tubes and wear it over your regular (unbuttoned!) pants. Extends your pants for longer, meaning you have to buy less.
Nursery, et al
-
Stokke
Stokke is the benchmark for well-made baby furniture. From their iconic tripp-trapp chair, to beautiful cribs they make heirloom pieces. Designed well with natural and sustainable materials they really last, so if you find something secondhand, grab it!
-
BabyBjörn
We love BabyBjorn for their simplicity, great designs and quality that lasts and lasts. A great brand to support, a great brand to find secondhand!
-
Moonboon
We came for the kapok and buckwheat filled nursing pillows. We stayed for the bouncing cradle because frankly we want one for ourselves.
-
Hevea
Hevea makes natural rubber pacifiers and glass bottles with rubber protective covers and all sorts of other great stuff, including dog toys (because some babies have fur).
-
Micro
This Swiss brand of scooters and kids bikes is amazing. High quality means you can pass it along again and again. And you can replace literally ANY part, which is huge in terms of getting the longest use out of any big product like this.
